ASHBURTON WINTER SHOW

(Per United Pbess Association.) ASIiBURTON, June 10. The seventh annual winter' show, held under the auspicos of the Ashburton Agricultural and Pastoral Association and tho Ashburton Poultry Society, was opened this afternoon in uncertain weather. The entries total over 1350— about 250; less than last year, when the South Island poultry championship show was included, —and cover foals, cattle, sheep, dogs, produce, grain, roots, poultry, pigeons, canaries, pets, and home industries and trade displays. The only section of outstanding interest is that of tho Wyandotte and Orpington classes in .poultry, in which the South Island championships were awarded, and also the South Island Wyandotte Club's special prizes. Following are the championship awards— : Silver Wyandottes—Mr R. D. Johnston. Golden Wyandottes—Mr G. E. Jeffreys. White Wyandottes—Mr J. B. White. Black Orpington—Mr E. C, Baker. Buff Orpington—Mr N. A. Fountain.
