BRISBANE'S DEMANDS. , . _ BRISBANE, June 9. A conference between'.exporters of frozen produce and the Chamber of Commerce resolved to urge the Federal Government to try to arrange that the Canadian Government steamer eervice, for which tenders are now being called, shall be a Canadian-Australian service, with Brisbane as the first and last port of call. But in the event of Canada, insisting on New Zealand being included, then the Federal Government shall insist on Brisbane being the last port of call in the Commonwealth; and that Brisbane shippers bo given equitable allotment of the freezing space, subject to shippers giving 14 days' notice of- their requirements. The freight on frozen! products must be the same from the Commonwealth as from New Zealand, and the Federal Government shall endeavour to arrange that such products enter Canada at the same rale of duty as those from New Zealand, BRISK TRADE IN VICTORIA. ' MELBOURNE, June '9. (Received June 9, at 10 p.m.) A return issued by the Superintendent of Exports shows that the meat export trade during the season which is nowclosing increased by nearly 20 per cent, over last season. This season 1,066,057 carcases of lamb and mutton Jiavo already been exported, and about 34,000 still await shipment. The increase is partly due to the early, but unrealised,-prospects of .a drought, and partly to the good l prices ruling in the European-markets.
