TO TIl'J EDITOR. i Slit,—l have JiatL placed before mo a' circular in refcrenco lo the amalgamation ' scheme of the Borough of North-Eost Valley, and signed by James Wil6on, in which the following paragraph appears:— The scheme is engineered by the Duncdin City Council solely for its own pur-, poses, and you cannot possibly benefit by it. Tlicy wish to get your borough as f security for borrowing purposes, which at' the present time would ba worth to them anything between £60,000 to £100,000. As Mayor of tho City of Duncdin, I desire to state most emphatically that this is contrary to facts, as neithor directly nor indirectly has the City Council had anything to do with the sohemo, and I consider it my duty to contradict such a rash statement—l am, etc., James 11.
