Moore (Premier of Western Australia) at the Fishmongers' Hall. Among the 125 guests present were Sir Gerard Smith, Sir C. Lucas, the Agents-general, and other well-known colonials. In proposing Mr Moore's health, the Lord Mayor said his record as Premier would be quite wort-hy of comparison with any of his predecessors. lie referred to the great growth of Western Australia's agricultural possibilities, which, in a great measure, was due to Mr Moore's work. Mr Moore, in reply, said lie was highly gratified- at the presence of the representatives of the commercial, banking, and mining sections of the West Australian community. Perhaps the most- important duty of his Government was to foster immigration. In that -he -hoped; to be able to co-operate with Sir G. Reid. His State desired to encourage Englishmen and other Europeans who were prepared to go on the soil and to assist in developing the country. His great territory wonted capital and population, and must look to the Old Country for them.

In proposing the health of flic chairman, Sir George Reid emphasised Australia's need- of immigrants, who would he a ufr better investment for England than nion?y.
