The-.Katanga, which arrived' yesterday, reports that the Savaai ■ volcano, at Samoa, has been unusually active of late. - A severe earthquake was felt in the group at the end of January. The seismograph in Mulinu, Samoa, has registered several earthquake shocks lately, the/whole of them being within a few miles of the .group. On Wednesday, the 19th ult,, aviolent eruption occurred, which, lasted for about 60 minutes. Tho centre of shock was probably in the Solomons.
