DEVELOPING NEW GUINEA
COMPANY'S PROSPECTUS ISSUED,. Press Association—By Teiegraph--Copyri;ht. LONDON, February 12. (Received Pet. 13, at 5 p.m.). The British New Guinea Development Company's prospectus lias been issued. Mr J. G. Jenkins, of South Australi", recently stated that tlio syndicate would be formed into a large company, and devote attention to the growth of rubber, cocoanuts, and other tropical products where sod and rainfall were suitable. In drier districts it would cultivate eisal hemp and products that did not require heavy rainfall. Mr Jenkins said that when he visited New Guinea he walked on foot for about 150 miles, and was astonished to note the richness of soil in parts. Ho was accompanied by experts, whoso opinions wore telegraphed to London. Industries would bo carried on by means of native labour supplied under the supervision of the Papuan Government) under careful conditions of employment. The Papuan natives naturally took to agricultural work.
