Dr Foote, a New Zealand passenger on the Nairnshire, iuccfssfully performed a difficult operation during the vova«c. One of the stoKers was stricken with appendicitis, and was in a critical 'condition. Dr Foote decided that an operation was necessary in order to save his life, ami, without any expert assistance and during a heavy gale, ho carried it through successfully. The mall is progressing satisfactorily.
