The death occurred last week of Mrs Brvce, wife of the. Hon. John Br.voc, Native Minister iu the Hall-Atkinson Government.

Green, recently elected to reoresenfc the accountants of Otago on the Council of tile Mew Zealand Society of Accountants, left Dunedin for Wellington yesterday morning to attend the'first meeting cf the council, The passengers for the north yesterday included Mr J. T. Gibson, chairman of the Taieri Drainage Board. Mr M. Elliott, r/igincer of the hoard, Mr P. Cullon, member of the board for the Owhiro subdivision, Mr D. T. Shand, cx-deputy chairman of tho board, and other persons interested, who are to give evidence before the Lands Comnuttt-3 of the House of Representatives with reference to the pro'pasal to divide the tfrainage district. Mr C. Findlay, a nienibor of tho board, is already in \\ elling'tou with a like object in view. A well-known business man of Christchurch, llr M'Clea, draper, died (says a Press Association message) suddenly on Sunday night at about 11 o'clock. Deceased arrived in Christchurch about 29 yca.rs ago.

Mr Will Crooks. M.P., left Dunedin by the first express for the south yesterday morning to catch the Melbourne steamer at the Bluff.

At the closing meeting of the Dunedin Mental Science Association last week Mr G. R. Blanchfield, on behalf of several members of the Sueccess Club, presented Mr and Mrs A. V. Mazengarb with a solid silver entree dish as a token of esteem and expression of goodwill.
