HAMILTON, December 6. A youth, fifteen years of age, employed as a telegraph messenger and to dear pillar boxes, pleaded guilty to stealing two £1 notes from a postal packet and small sums of money handed him for the transmission of telegrams. WELLINGTON, December 6. Wm. Sheehan, charged on thiee informations to-day with sending three letters through the post containing words of an indecent character, was convicted and lined £5 in each caie.
Two charges.of street betting were brought against' Harry. Johnston to-day. The magistrate decided to take both offences as one, and fined defendant £20.
NAPIER, December 6. A Chinaman- named Loc Fun, alias Lee Fu, was to-day fined £30 and costs, in default three months' imprisonment, for having in his possession opium in a form suitable for smoking.
