KNOX CHURCH
INDUCTION OF KEY. R. E. DAVIES.
There was a very fair congregation in Knox Church on 10t.li ult. on the occasion of the induction into the pastorale of iho church, of thi' Rev. Robert Evan Da vies. M.A., who has incepted the call to the eliarue. The Moderator of the Otago I'leshylory (the Kev. D. K. Fit-her) presided over the gathering, which partook of the nature of an ordinary service. There were also on the platform many members, both clerical and lay, of the local l'resbytery. Preliminary exorcises of praise and prayer naving been engaged in by t\o presiding minister, the sermon was delivered by him. This was based on Psalm 66, -verse 16: "Come ye here all ye that fear God and I will declare what Ho hath done for my soul."
After turthor devotional exercises, tho Moderator submitted to the pastor-elect the formal set pf questions necessary to
the induction of anv pastor as drawn up by the Presbyterian' Church of New Zealand. All the queries having b.'cn answered iir th<> afTirmativo, Mr Davie* was ceremoniously inducted by having extended to him by the Moderator the right hand of fellowship. The Uev. James Chi.-hohu. appointed by the Preshylr-ry to address the minister and congregation, welcomed Jlr Davics v->ry heartily to their ranks, and congratulated hint o!f his induct ion to the largest con(•ivKtiiion of their order in the Dominion. The, choir thou sang the "Hallelujah Chorus," after which the Benediction was pronounced by the Itev. Mr Chisholm. As the congregation left the building Professor llewitson stood at the door with Mr Davics and introduced him to the members and adherents.
