. WAITARA, December 3. At- the quarterly meeting of tho TaumaI'unm Licensing Committee application was made on behalf of Richard Conrad .Uiwson, of Kaurimu (King Country), for a wholesale license there. Mv Quilliam, for the applicant, said that a large petition had been signed by residents in favour of tho application, but it lutd nob come to hand in time for presentation to the coniur.t-ke. He gave an assurtincß thai, tlis premises were not in a Nativo iHCiI, and there were no legal objectionsof any kind. The connnittcc retired to' consider (he matter, and the Chairman, announced on his return that tho com-' mitti'e wished for the production formally ot evidence shov/in;; that tho promises were not in a native area. They aleo wanted to see the petition. Tho application would be adjourned till January 14 to enable these points to be met. Ho lidded that- the petit-ion would have great weight with the committee.
Applicalion was made informally for Joseph Cody to be granted a new license '' at Ohaliimc, as the present licensed premises were too small for requirements. The committee would express no opinion us to whether new licenses would bo granted, but suggested that applications be made, to conic beforo it on January
