LONDON, October 19, Sir Robert Stout is recovering from a successful operation.

(From Ode Ows Cobbesposdext.) WILLINGTON, October 20 The news that Sir Robert Stout was undergoing an operation in London came as a surprise to his friends here. He had been suffering at intervals from some internal trouble, and had to be particularly careful in the matter of diet, He was not in good health when he left New Zealand. Ilis many friends will be pleased to hear that he is making an excellent recovery from the operation. His son, Mr J. Logan Stout, informs me that he received a cablegram to that effect yesterday, but the nature of the operation was not stated. Mr Stoirt is sanguine thai, the operation will have the effect o( restoring his fallier .to tlia excellent health that he formerly enjoyed.
