COAL MINERS' DISPUTE. (Pee Uxited Pkess Association - .) AUCKLAND, July 20. ' In the Arbitration Court to-day-, in the Kiripaka eoal miners' dispute, Ml' Manning of the Federated Coal Miners' Union) urged that wages should lie increased all round, and brought into line with wages elsewhere. Since the passing of Die Arbitration Act, he asserted, tho minimum wage bad come to be looked upon as the maximum. The workers no lui:;;.r had the right to strike. Mr Justice him interjected: You cancel your registration and you can st-riho. Mr Manning: I understood that- in an industry lo which an awa rd w.'.-uld apply \ve should be Inble if we struck. Mr Justice Sim: Not, at all. If you are not registered you can strike.' SLAUGHTER-MAN'S DISPUTE. (Pf.k Uxiteb Pkess Association.; AUCKLAND, July 21. At the ■ hearing of the dispute between I its ShughilcrmtMiV Union and the Vfaitara Frc-ezin-g .Works, Mr G-rosircnor, representing the latter, protected against the union representative liaving brought eight witnesses from Waitara, thereby closing down the works. Mr Justice Sim said that- if Mr Bii.vt had called witnesses from Waita-va he had no bu'.-viu-js whatever to do sd, as the court had expressed willingness to take evidence at Xcw Plymouth if necessary. FUTURE MOVEMENTS. (Pf.ii Uxited Pkess Associatiok.) WELLINGTON, July 21. T1:,3 Ai'oitration Court will sit at- Vvangamii on August 17, at l'slmoistcii Noiih on the 19i.h, at Napic-r on the 23rd, and Wellington on the oOdi. The hearing of the bricklayers' dispute will be commenced at Wanga-mii, and continued at l'alcnerislon. The only cases now set down tor hearing will be taken at l'almerston.
