NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION. (Per United .fit Ess Association.; WELINGTON, July 16. A special meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union- was held this afternoon. Objections for various reasons to the date of the North v. South Island match wore received from tho Auckland, Hawkc's Bay, Wcetknd, Canterbury, Poverty Bay, and Marlborough Unions, and other cities more convenient to these unions being suggested. It. was pointed out that to please everybody there would bo no dates until September 28, and members agreed that this was too k-te. The question was left in the harids of a committee of three to consider the matter and report at next meeting. An objection by to Canterbury Union to the location of the iryter-island match, was also left in the hands of tlie committee for report. W. Trewcck, Nelson, who had acted as a gatekeeper in Nelson was reinstated.' as an amateur. OTAGO-SOUTHLAND MATCH. (I'floa Oua Own CoßßKsrosoEtiT.) INVBRCARGIIiL, July 16. At the Rugby Union meeting: to-night it was dcoidod to aek tho Otagi Unian if it would a.grco to play the Otago-South-land match on August 21 instead of September 25, as at first suggested by Otago. TO-DAY'S MATCHES. The returm match between ths Alhambra ami D-unedin is causing a lot of interest. The Alhambra were victorious when these teams mot .in the first round, but the Dunedin have been showing a marked improvement in their play the last few Saturdays, amd many think they will bo able.to inflict the first, dffoat on the Red-and-Blacks- this season. As both teams possess good backs an interesting game is anticipated. At Oarisbrook Southern will meet ZingariRiohmond. The previous match 'resulted in a win for the Colours, but tho Southern arc keen to turii the tables, and the match should prove a very close one. At Tahuna Bark Port Chalmers will meet. Taieri Rovers, and Pirates the University. The former should prove a. very even contest. At Bishopscourt Kaikorai will meet Union. JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE TEAM. At a meeting- of captains of various football teams, called for last evening, to appoint a Mutch Committee to select a junior representative team to play W"nikouaiti and Wailwrao combined at Palmerstoii on August 27, only iivo persons put in an appearance. The following committee was selected:— Messrs W. Brown (Zintari-Richmoiul), Dntmmontt (Union), J. Calkin (Ravonsboiirne], H. Goodman (Southern), and D. Corson (Dunedm). The Tlukt _ (trade matches University A v. Ziligari-Kichmond and University B v. Pirates will not bo played, as (ho University are una.ble to raise teams.
