AUCKLAND, May 19.

In the action for libel, Uradney v. Virtue, arising out of the Harbour Hoard election, the jury found for the plaintiff lor £25 damages. Mr M'Gregnr moved for judgment for £50. Mr Hamford, for the plaint-ill', said he desired to address the court- on the question of privilege, and the ea.se was adjourned for argument at a future dale.

The case in which Charles Keid, cabinetmaker, of Cambridge, sought to recover £250 damages for alleged libel from James Souter, a merchant- in the same town, was concluded at the Supreme .Court this afternoon, the jury giving a 'verdict for the plaintiff. Damages were assessed at £50.

WKLLINGTOX, May 19.

In the Supreme Court Rose M'inncs, a young woman, charged with making a false slalemenf on oath at- Hastings, was ordered to come up for sentence when called on. She hud been living with a man, against whom she swore an information charging him with deserting her. Since then the parties had heen married. George Richardson, for forgery, received two years, and Arthur Frake (theft and forgery) was granted probation.

It was announced in fhe Supreme Court this morning that the claim of the widow of Samuel Wilson, who was killed by the collapse of a new roof at the Gear Company's works recently, had been settled by the payment of £800 by the company for the widow and two children.
