) , , A statutory inectin n of parishioners of " Si. John's Unurcli, Hoslyn, was held in the hail attached to the church on Monday night. There was a large awwidancc, and the meeting was presided over by the vicar,' the. Hev. h. L. bnow. The report of the vestry showed that the general revenue of the chinch had been well maintained. In February last the open air fete proved a great success, notwithstanding that the weather conditions were mostly unfavourable. To the vicar was due the credit of organising this fete, the carrying out of which involved a great deal of, labour, many persons not connected with the church lending valuable aid. To all workers and donors, and more especially to the vicar, the vestry tendered its heartiest thanks. The purchase of a seej Hon of land at Maori Hill had been com--1 pleted, the total cost, including interest, ; Having amounted to £113 3s 7d. The 1 vestry contemplated carrying out the following works .forthwith:—Tnc building of un addition to St. John's Hall for the pur- , poses, of a guild room, the building of a J Sunday school at Maori Hill, and the . lining-out of the Church of Good Shepherd. Messrs .Norman and.Beard had prae- ' tically completed the erection of the now 1 organ, which was used for the lirst time I on Sunday, 27th March. The organist (Mr John A. Haggitt) purposed giving recitals on the organ at an early date. The vestry i desired to sincerely thank lady collectors ■ for. their valuable assistance. The Vicar's report stated that the ' spiritual condition of the narish had been ; more than maintained, thanks to the valu- ■ able assistance received front many eiithuI siustic workers. The three branches of the Sunday school-at the parish church, the , Church of the Good .Shepherd, and the ; State school, Maori Hill-had shown greater I zeal amongst all parties concerned ( (teachers, parents, and scholars). Thanks were duo to Mr Goodridge, Mr Kelk, and ' Mrs Allen, and their conscientious body of , teachers, for the excellent conditions prevailing in their respective schools. An important, branch ■ of parish work was that of St.. Andrew's 1 I'othorhood, under Mr W. 11. Hamblett. The members also rondercd invaluable assistance by welcoming the many strangers who visited the church during the year. Besides the erection of a school building at Maori 11 ill, this year will be memorable for the building of a guild room "as an addition lo the | parish hall, a s well as' for the installation of a new pipe organ in the parish church. There had boon an increase in the number • of communions and of the congregations at: early celebrations on saints' days. Wednesday evening services, however, were still weaker than could be wished. The statement of receipts and oxpondi--turo showed a total revenue of £858 18s 7d, and the disbursements left a balanc in hanks of £233 17s lid. The Vicar moved the addition of these documents, and briefly referred to the various ilems in the report. Mr W. I.
