NAPIER HARBOUR IMPROVEMENT.

INNER HARBOUR SCHEME. (Pm United Press Association.) NAPIER, April 20. Mr George Nelson, of Jas. J. Niven and Co. (Limited), recently published a scheme for an inner harbour at Port Ahuriri for ocean-going vessels. The scheme was submitted to the Napier Harbour Board, and referred to its Works Committee, which reported as follows to to-day's, meeting of the board:—"That the following engineers be asked to report on the feasibility of Mr George Nelson's scheme, provided that their fees are satisfactory to the board, and with that object in view each engineer be asked to say what his fee will be, such quotation to come before the board at ils next meeting, the engineers to be Messrs J. Blair Mason (Dunedin), Cyrus Williams (Lyttellon), and J. P. Maxwell (Wellington), and that Mr Nelson be v informed Dial although the board is submitting his plan and specification to engineers for expert advice thereon, (he board in no way agrees to pay him any fees in connection with the said rjlan and specification." The report was adopted, with the addition that the breakwater scheme outlined by Mr Marchant some time ago should also be reported on. The order of reference to the engineers will be fixed at the next meeting of the board.
