THE OTAGO TEAM. Otago will bo represented by a solid team, and has a fair chance of winning the shield. Tho province is particularly strong in field events, and should score well in hammer throwing, jumping, and hurdles. In the hammer and weight events will be found tho names of several athletes well known throughout the Dominion, T. A. O'Grady (ex-New Zealand champion), J. M Murray (Baiclut.ha), L. Skinner, D. A, Maofaikno. In tho High Jump K. I*'. Mitchell will bo the mainstay, whilst in the Broad Jump will be found" G. P. Keddell (ex-New Zealand champion and recordholder), F. liands, and R. F. R. King, J. Druiiimond. WELLINGTON TEAM. The Wellington team will be a thoroughly representative ono, and the Wellington officials anticipate 'retaining the shield. Included in the team are Australasian and New Zealand champions and record-holders—L. M. M'Kay and S. Sharp. The contest in the Three Miles Championship between Sharp (Wellington), W. F. Simpson (ex-Australasian and New Zealand champion and record-holder), S. W. Moore (Canterbury), who recently finished second in the Auckland Marathon Championship, and the Otago eracka, should ho well worth witnessing The AVellington sprinters are favourably known, and include Woodger, who has on two occasions ran the 100 yords ill 10 seconds. Harding, of Napier, is also in the front rank, and it is claimed that he can run the 440 yards in 51 seconds any time he is required to do so. Altogether Wellington's chances of retaining the shield are good. Tho full team to represent Wellington at the meeting (says a Wellington telegram) is as follows:— Shot, Pole, Vault, and Long Jump.—L. M'Kay. 440 Yards and 880 Yards.—W. G. Harding (Napier). 100 Yards and 200 Yards.—W. A. Woodger. 220 Yards and 400 Yards.—J. Wilton. Three Miles.—G. S. Shariie. 120 Yards and 440 Yards Hurdles, Pole Vault, and High Jump,—A. Evenson. One mile and Three-mile Walks.—P. Fitzgerald. Iho inclusion of A. E. Burge depends on his performance in a trial run over a mile, to he held on Monday evening. If he is a member of the team, he will run in the miie and half-mile Should he fail to salisfy the selector, Williams (Wmiffauui) will go to ran in the quarter ami half-mile. Southland will bo represented by a learn of five men. including J. Davie, hammer-thrower, pole-vaulter, and middle distance runner. The names of the other mcmliers of the team will not bo known till to-day. Auckland will lie represented by J. Wallace, hammer-thrower, and present of New Zealand. 'J lie sports will commenoe at. 1.30 p.m.. and the last event will commence at 5 p.m. In all, there will 'be 24 contests, and the public should get a good afternoon's sport. The Caledonian track is in good order, and fast times are sure to l>3 registered. ' The Mornington Band will he in attendance, and special oars will run to tlie ground.
