A very old settler and a. prominent church member in the Kust Taieri districthas been honoured by liis colleagues and neighbour.*. The recipient of the honour is Mr Win. Jaffrav, of Saddle Hill, The occasion was the (-omplction of 58 tears of faithful service in the church, and on illuminated address from the congregation ol East Taieri recounted his career. It told how in January, 1851, Mr .Taffray was ordained a deacon by the Rev. Dr Burns, thus proving him one of the oldest workers in the Presbyterian Church of Olago. In -May, 185"!, lie was ordained a deacon of (.lie" East Taieri Church, and in January. 1877, ordained elder. During all those years Mr JalFray had borne faithful testimony to his Master, and the signatories (who wore represented by. thn .Rev, A. W. Kinmont, moderator, and Mr W. Allan, session clerk) hoped that lie would yet enjoy many years of rest and quiet, enjoyment. The Duuedin l'resbytery also presented on address to Mr JalTray.
