WAIKOUAITI NOTES.

The. annual meeting of the Wiukowuki branch of the Otago Burly Sections' Association was hokl on Wednesday evening last in the PitMiw Reading lloom. The Mayor (Mr A. Heckler) occupied the chair, and there was a very largo attendance of members and of others, interested. Tho secretary (Mr Thomas Aflcook) presented lhe report for (ho year, ami also the balance sheet, the latter showing that the sum of £10 4s 2d had been deposited at interest in the Ixuik, and that a creditbalance of 10s 6d was SIJU in hand from last year. It was decided to celebrate tho sixty-ninth anniversary of the settlement of Waikouaiti on Wednesday, Maa-ch 17. by holding a picnic on tlie Uccreatioii Ground during the day, and in tho evening an emertatmnent, concluding with a dance in tho Public Hall. Mr T. Allcock' was reelected secrctarv. and strong committees was formed to carry, out all cocosary
arrangements. An attractive is being prepared for the day; lea will lie provided, and the public arc invited to attend and to briii!} baskets. If the weather is favourable it is expected that there will l;e a large gathering.
The supply of milk at I lie dairy factory is holding up well, four targe vaU beintj still required, and these are. filled daily. As the season is now well advanced, however, there.' will won be a reduction in quantity. The sum of £1363 was paid to the suppliers for the month of January— this amount, being slightly in excess of that, paid for the corresponding month of last year.
