LYTTELTON HARBOUR BOARD

A HEATED DEBATE. (Feu United Phkss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 4. A heated and almost acrimonious discussion took place at the Harbour Board meeting yesterday on the cpiestion whether certain figures collected by the board concerning the revenue collected by the railway for the Christclnti'cli-Lyttolton branch, which are to be part of the- icport being prepared with regard to the canal scheme, should be made public at once, before the report was completed, in view of the fact that an erroneous set of figures had been given publicity by the newspapers. Mr Friediawler threatened that if the board did not publish the figures at once he would reveal them himself at a meeting at Ashburton to-night. Jl was pointed out that this would be a gross breach of privilege, but Mr Friedliuider persisted in his intention to defy the board. A motion to reveal the figures was lost.
