Surely this cannot be callad a work of necessity or mercy, ami the military aiithoritMs should be shown tJwt they Kvuno.t Ix; allowed to ignore the feelings of a Clnisiiaii people. That Saturday was wot is jio justification for breaking the JiiMath and filling the ajr of the tracrecl day with jarring sounds. Tim influence of such proceedings on the young is extremely detrimental to their moral and religious interests, not to speak of the hurt done, to Yohtiiloere whocherish conscientious principles, but are required lp conform lo orders which ride roughshod over the conscience. In the intoiests of religion and the youth of our land, I beg to enter my strong protest against so marked a. violation of the quietness and sacrwlness of the Lord's Day.-I am, etc., TT , Wm.
