Jn the space of a short time the company will tie placing its coal on the liiarnel. The contractor for the hiving of the line is making splendid progress, and within the next three weeks, given fair weather, will have the work out of his hands. This iias been a most difficult piece of work, as the iine has a grade of 1 in 25, and had tu he constructed on (he Fell system, with a centre '■ml. 'Ihe back-shunt bridge, across Stone Creek is now Hearing completion, while the No. 11. viaduct 'is completed. This structure is 35011 in length, and contains no less than 78,000 ft oi timber, chiefly ironbark and jarrah. In places it is a distance ol fJOlt from the bottom of the chasm. The No. 2 viaduct, which is 340 ft in length, and 50ft high in places, when completed will contain 59,000 ft of timber, chiefly ironbark and jarrah. As soon as the concrete piers are completed a start will b<: made with i«. erection. In the meantime, the timber is being dressed and fitted and being got in readiness to be hauietj up througn the No. 1 incline tunnel.
