OAMARU HARBOUR
DBEDGIXG SCHEME ADOPTED. (Per U.nitkb Pkkss Association.) OAMARU, January 25. Tim Harbour Board decided to call for tenders for dredging tlie harbour on the lines of the scheme laid down by 11 r Paterson—viz., to carry out the work by means of a pontoon dredge. A syndicate has already offered to do the work.
(Fhovi Our Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, January 25. At the Harbour Board meeting to-day it was necessary for the safety-vtilvo I<j be carefully tended in order to escape an explosion. As usual, the topic was dreeing. A .letter was read fioin Mr Blair Mason asking to be excused from reporting on Mr l'alerson's scheme. Mr Rose animadverting on this, charged the chairman ■with bungling in .sending two letters to Mr Mastm asking him to be guided only by information supplied by responsible members of the board. The chairman controvcited this statement- by quoting an
interview with Mv Jlason in which the latter expressed annoyance at the dissension existing in the. bWd m n ln atlcr in which lie. had understood lhcv were unanimous. .Mr Hose moved that'.Mr .Uuon be asked to report on the whole scheme with"in- limiting the order of reference, hut the motion was defeated.
