A PERSONAL.EXPLANATION. ' Cr Crosland, in the course of a personal explanation, said a report had been industriously, circulated in tho district, to'tho effect that ho was making a strong effort to have the borough clerk and the senior surfaceman retired from their respective position's. As these'statements were entirely devoid of trutji, and calculated to do him injury, he desired to inform the council that lie was not responsible for tho .canard.
