ARBITRATION COURT.
MILLERS'AWARD. (Pes United Press Association.) . CHRISTCHURCH, December 1. When the 'Arbitration Court resumed tliis morning it was reported that as ;i result of a. conference held by ,the director of the court, the 'parties in the milling dispute had arrived at an agreement, The agreement was handed in, and the court was requested to embody its terms in an award, the award to have a currency of two years, and to take effect from January 1, 1909. Provisipn is made for an eight hour day, and overtime is paid for at the rate of time arid a-quarter for the first three hours, time and a-half foi' the second, three hours, and double time afterwards; all work on Sundays and specified holidavs to ho paid for at the rate of double time. The following are the minimum rates of wages:—Rollcrman or shift miller* Is Id per hour; oatmeal or barley milleiyls'ld; purifier, Is; smutterman, Is;, assistant .smutterman or tipman, lid; kilriman and head storeman, assistant storeniail, Is; packman, Is;.engine drivers (when combined cylinders are 200, or over 200, circular inches), Is 3d; second and third engine.drivers, Is engine drivers (under 200 circular inches), Is Id; second and third, Is; engine drivers (gas producer capable of developing 70-h.p. and upwards), Is 3d; second and third, Is 1-Jd; engine drivers "(lees than 70-h.p.), Is Id; second and third, Is. The wages of carters are to be fixed by the drivers' award. The wages- of boys for the first six months are 10s per week, and they rise in succeeding similar periods to 12s, 15s, 18s, 21s, 245, 275. 30s, 335, 365. All casual labour and grain carriers in stores are to be paid at the rate of Is per hour, v There are the usual conditions for preference, under-ra'te workers, etc. .
