— What claims to bo the steepest railway line in the world is that recently opened near Bozon, in the Tyrol. The Mendel railway, with a gradient of 6? in 100, and the Vcsuvian, with 63, have hitherto held the record. But the Jiew line in its steepest parts rises 70 in 100, and in other par Is 60. It leads up the mountain side to Virgl Terrace, on the river Eisack. The system employed' is that of the electrical wire rope, and the ascent, is mado at the rate of sft a second, or five minutes for the whole distance. --The latest domestic wonders are paper jugs. 'At the present moment many thousands of jugs and vessels of that material aro being manufactured for dairy coinpanic, 5, and some have deoided to adopt t,hem for delivery instead of the cans and glass bo!tips which are used at present. Something like tankards in shape, the arc pale brown in colour, and very light and clean-looking. The English Agricultural Organisation Society is to try thorn first.
