Reginald Day (late wretarv of the southland Hospital and Charitable Aidhoard), who was arrested on the West Coast, recently., was chared at the Police Comt to-day on five count* with havin«' embezzled the funds of the board The amount involved is £315 19s 10d,' mado up ot sums received for rent of the hoard's property, for the .•-■ale of tho board's land, from a legacy, also a sum donated to tho board from a deceased person's estnL-, and certain moneys pi id into court for the maintenance of illegitimate children in charge of the board. Tho alleged defalcations extended over four or live years. The .hearing occupied all dav, and the accused was committed' for trial.
