DUNEDIN NORTH. Tho scrutiny of tho Duncdin North roll a was commenced and concluded yesterday. About 8.30 p.m. Mr Laroach mado a 6tart on the recount in tho presence of Mr A. M'Phcreon, J.P. Tho scrutineers aro Mr Sibhald on behalf of Mr Thomson and Mr J. .S. Waito on behalf o£ Mr Barclay. Shortly before 10 o'clock last evening, when a halt was called, the recount had covered some 1600 votes out of total of '6771. The.scrutiny has revealed four instances of duplicato voting. Tho effect which this will have on tho result cannot bo mado known yet. - One absent voter's permit has como to hand, but lias not yet been opened. It is anticipated that midday to-day will see tho final announcement matte OTAKI. AN APPEAL PROBABLE, > (Pm Ukitid Pbbss Assocutioh.) WELLINGTON, November 26. It is stated that an appeal will be lodged against the election of Mr W. H. Field for tho Otaki seat in tho Houso of Representatives, on the grounds that sufficient secrecy was not observed at one of the polling booths. (Fiok Otnt Owk Cosbsseondiht.) Tho scflltiny bf the rolls and the recount t>f Totes cast in the recent election, for the 'Wostland constituency was completed this wening, the final result being: T. E Y iScddon, 2830; H. L. Michel, 2720. Informal, 21. Majority for Mr Scddon, 110. Many reports were current about eases of double voting, but tho scrutiny revealed no eases. ■
