PARKS AND THEIR USES.
Sir,—l am euro meet people will be thankful for/ the splepdid and refreshing article on the'above subject by " Maorilander" in your issue of the 20th inst., and I sincerely trust . that all membcre of town councils liavo read and inwardly digested it, and resolved to act upon the suggestions offered by " Maorilaiider," for most cf them could be carried out within our own city to tie benefit of ail, awf especially for that of the youths and maidens. In the finst place I (should like to know why our city "lungs"ni'o closed so early, or why they should bo closed at ail!, and why is there not music, and even dancing, in our Botanic Gardens on most.' evenings during the summer months. I am; sure from a monetary point of view, to say nothing about health and morals, it is the bounden duty of / the council to allow tlio people greater amd freer access to the rffierves, etc., .under its control. Why docs the council not 'sufficiently ionco'iirago Hid bauds to give their services, as in the long ruji it pays to Bub--sidisa thorn?, What a splendid chance fox our young ptople to bo able to enjoy themselves in the Gardens in preference to parading the streets in summer evenings. Thanking " Mnovilaiidev" for bringing this important..mailer bMore (ho pwhlio—l am, etc., Nae Sae Ukco Guid.
