ALLEGED ASSAULT.

(Pi*. Unhid Pjiess Association.) GISBORNK, November 20. The police received a wire last night that a labouring man named William Harvey had been ; seriously assaulted and found with severe injuries about the head. Harvey alleges that James Jackson, a. ,wharf labourer, with whom he had "been drinking yesterday, camo to his house and him with a wool hook, without provocation. The police arrested Jackson, who was charged at the court this morning with assault and causing bodily harm. Tho police said that Harvey was not in a condition to appear, and'the case was remanded till the 28th inst.
