A meeting of tho committee of' the Soeicty for the Promotion of the Health' of Women and Children was held in tho Town Hall yesterday, when there" w«ro present—Mrs flosking (in tho chair), Mcsdames Edwards, Jackson, Nisbet, Rattray, Joachim, Moore, O'Neill, Edmond, Donald, Ross, Ramsay, 'Gallaway, Dcnniston, Arundel, Miss Berwick, Nurse Gow, Adjutant Tweed, Sister Ernestine, .'Mrs Cohen (hon. treasurer), and tho hon. secretary. It was announced that arrangements wero being; made to have the water laid on to the Karitane Home, and -a special committee' Was appointed to deal with the matter. , As the Karitane Home ,is to benefit from the Hospital Saturday collection, a stand has been allotted to. tho committee, and the names.of those willing to help wero handed- in.' A vote ot thanks wa6 passed' to the Hospital Saturday Association for allowing th<» 6ocicty to participate, and tlio members of the- committee, as a mark -of appreciation, resolved', to become annual: eubscribois to the association, ■ i Dr. King reported upon the progress that was'made in the work of the society throughout the Dominion, and was, much struck with tho enthusiasm and real interest shown, In Auckland the factory for the preparation of humanised milk is well established, and is now sending out as muoh milk as tho Taieri Factory. One hundred and seventy babies, are being looked - after 1 through the factory and the Blunket nurSc, and another nurse is. about to be appointed.
