HOSPITAL SATURDAY ASSOCIATION.

. M.ORNIXGTON DISTRICT. A mooting of ladies and, gentlemen wis' iield in the Mornington. Town Hall last evening to make arrangements for talcing up colloctions in that suburb in aid of the objects of the Hospital Saturday Association. The Major (Mr H. A. LoCjen) presided, ; The Mayor explained that owing to tho postponement of the Hilton meeting the president of tho association (Mr G. C. Israel) was unable to be present, but Ml' J. London, a member of the Executive Committee, was present to give any information desired. In connection with tho movement in Mornington, it bad' boon found that when it was first inaugurated they had an excellent- band of, local lady collectors who obtained first-class results, on ,ono occasion as much as £30 being collected, but these ladies had since been secured as collectors in th© city, with the result that tho total amount collected in the district had fallen off. He thereforo suggested that, say, 10. or more lady collectors should bo set apart by tho'association for .collecting lin Mornington, and if that was done the district could be divided pff and thoroughly canvassed on Hospital Saturday. Personally, lie thought thcro were too many collcctors' stands in the city, and that if some of the surplus energy was directed into the suburbs more monoy would be' collected. Mr Bone: We liavo been told that we have riot sufficient stands in town. The Mayor: The suburbs suffer through their collectors being taken away to do work in. tho city. Mr Loudon suggested, as a- way of getting over tlie difficulty, mentioned by the Mayor, that Mornington and other suburbs might be C3.nvaaw.-d by ladies previous to Hospital Saturday, and that the amounts secured by such- a .method could be included in the total of Hospital Saturday collections. • The suggestion-of Mr Loudon was considered and discussed, and as it wits considered that while people would not earc to put down smaJl amounts on a subscription list thoy would 'Willingly put in similar amounts ■ in ■ collection boxes, tho latter/method . was thought to be preferable. ' Mr J. F. Arnold, M.P.; said Jio was sure Mornington waf in full sympathy with the objects of the association, and its residents,. if they did not giVe their donations in- tho district, gave them' in the city. Ho thought the Mayor's suggestion was an excellent one to havo the district divided up and canvassed by -lady collectors on Hospital Saturday. Ho also thought, that in the appointment of lady collectors and canvassers for tho district local ladies should be selected, as thev knew the distriot and its ■ inhabitants . better than ' others did. During his election he had an excellent committee of ladies working for him, and ho would willingly hand in'their names' to the Mayor as collectors who might bo communicated with. A number of names of lady collectors and sympathisers were handed in, and Mr Loudon undertook that these,' as .well as •those on a. list to be supplied ;by Mr Arnold, would bo communicated with and asked to attend a meeting on Wednesday evening next in the same hall. On behalf of tho executive of tho association, Mr Loudon thanked tho Mayor and councillors of Mornington for granting froe passes on the tramways to lady collectors, and also for granting the use of tho Town Hall for meetings. ; The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Mayor for presiding. WEST HARBOUR. The Mayor of West Harbour (Mr H. E. ' Mollcr) presided at, a poorly-attended meeting in the Town Hall, Bavensbourne, last! evening, called for the purpose of arrang- ; ing details in connection with the Hospital j Saturday collection in West Harbour Jis- j trict. Mr W. L. Logie was pi , esent i on 1 behalf of I ho association, and after Tirieily discussing details it : was dccidcd to leave ' matters in the hands of Mrs G. 11. Hicks, who will appoint collectors and allocate stations in West Harbour district. GREEN ISLAND. The residents of Green Island are notified that, a meeting of all those interested in th 2 collection will be held in the Alliance Hall, Green Island, on Monday at 7.30 p.m. A member of tho central executive will be in attendance to explain the reasons why country districts should assist in this object, and it is hoped a largo number of ladies and gentlemen will mak" I point of attoii' 1 ' ■ ■ meet, ing. /

MAORI HILL. A meeting of the Maori Hill local committee will be hold in tho Council Chambers on Monday at 3 p.m. to discuss matters in concction with the movement. NORTH-EAST VALLEY. A mooting of all ladies and gentlemen interested in; tho Hospital Saturday collection in the North-East Valley district will be hold in'the Town Ilall, North-East Valley, on Monday at 8 p.m. A member of the executive of the association will be in attendance to explain the objects of tho association, and we feel confident that this worthy object will appeal to all, and a full meeting is therefore anticipated. -
