MR W. THOMSON'S INFALLIBILITY.
Sin,—ln your issue this morning Mr Thomson is astonished at the Rev. Mr Hastie's conduct. On Thursday morning I telephoned to Mr Thomson's office from my home. He was not in. The typist answered. I apologised for my inability to meet Mr Thomson at tho office that morning. The typist said she would toll Mr Thomson. "Air Hastie did not come, for the very good reason that Mr Hastie knows very well that the figures aro true," c!c. This is begging the question, and Air Thomson is also begging for sympathy for his weak and tottering cause. Why' docs he not accept my challenge? lam willing to go with him nnywhoro to discuss the proposition stated. Such a course does not suit Mr Thomson or his cause. I ran l * up tho office again, and was told to call on Saturday morning. Air Thomson finds it very convenient to have engagements away frAin Dunedin this week. The people can see through a stone wall about as far as Air Thomson. I wish to say no more. —I. am, etc., W, J, Hastie. October 27.
