OTAGO CENTRAL RAILWAY LEAGUE.
A meeting of the executive of ihe Olago Central Railway Leairue was held last night, in - the secretary's olP.ec: prcf-ent— Messrs AY. Burnett (chairmaif, \V. I'. Edmond, C. T. Pal-erson, W. T. Talhcys. J. Jolly, and A. Morteon. The ifoil. AY. In reply, lie had to advise the league that, as imiinaled in ihe Public Works Statement, it was decided by the (lovernmenl io devote what money was available for railway consirueiion this year to proceeding more expeditiously with (he railway works al present in hand. The amount allocated would permit of snvcial of these works being completed before March 31 nexl, and of others soon nfte.r that. date. When these works were oul of hand Ihe O'overnnieiii would then l:e in a position lo consider what further lines should be proceeded with, and ihe league might rest t-mtred when Ihe question of the extension of the Olago Central railway would receive that consideration to which its importance entitled it.—Tho tetter was received.
