RAPID DECREASE IN WELLINGTON. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 3. Tllo cry of tho unemployed is decreasing; iu volume. Day by day many of Iho workers arc bsiiifj drafted away into billets. During last ivoelc the looal Labour Bureau sent, about 150 men to wovlc private and public, and about 60 names remain on the books. This morning the number of applicants exceeded Saturday's total, but it is believed by the department's officers that the aggregate of unemployed is dwindling. Mast of tho applicants are single men; the married number only about 10 per e,?nt. "There are indications of farm work starting actively again soon," said one of the officers to-day. "Wo have received several letters from farmers inquiring for suitable hands, and about five requests? for married couplcs remain to lie satisfied." The ipaiwtinß l and carnentry trades ara still slack, but there are signs of improvement, states Mr Collins, of the Labour Department.
