AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS DISPUTE.

EMPLOYERS CONDEMN THE FINDING. (Faosi Our Own Correspondent.) AUCKLAND, July 27. In the opinion of Mr Matthew Clark, of Aroli. ClaTk and Sons, the judgment of the boarcl which sat in the tramways dispute is tho worst thing that has happened to employers, and indirectly to industry, in the history of the Dominion. Mr Clark gave as his reason for making this assertion that the decision in question placed employers in the position that they cannot dismiss an employee unless they have a reason that will satisfy the trades union. Ho pointed out that this was ridiculous, sinco there were many employees who were unsatisfactory, but against whom .no specific charge could be made. On the other hand, an employeo might leave his employer simply on givng the notice current in the business or trade. The decision was also bad in that in employments where money was involved or waste of time the employer was allowed to take no effective methods to check theft or to chock waste of time, which was also theft. Mr Clark added that employers frequently have to discharge employees of excellent character when there is absolutely nothing against them except that they are unsuitable. This must be the case in every business. _ Other .employers interviewed spoke in similar terras. Others, again, confessing to being " too hot" to, trust themselves to speak.
