Llizabeth Ayres and Mary Bowring, proprietress and barmaid respectively of Ayres'6 Hotel, denied that Connelly had a bofctlo at tho lioiel when leaving with Bourke. Alexander Lonnic said ho taw stains on Ilalinen's ocat sleeve before the fish shop row, but would not swear they were blood--1 stains, and could not ; ;ay the men did notreturn to -the lioiohaher tho row. w feeward said Halin?n and Anderson were at ihe City Hotel on tho Friday night. This w,v, denied by Frances M'lntyre, who also said that between 6.30 and 7 o'clock on the Saturday morning, following Andersen came to tho hotel, and snoko of a fight whic.h Halinen and himself "took, nart m tho previous night. She had told' Detective M'llveney that he said one of those in tho fight was in the -hospital, but she now said idle was excited at. tho tune the doicctive saw her, and could not swear that Andersen said anything about the hospital. Wit-ncfs further stated that- Andersen and Halinen came into the hok.4 on the following Wednesday, after being in gaol three days, and said people were trying to connect them with Gourkc's death, but, they bad a clear conscience. The case was adjourned till to-morrow.
