We have received from the publishers (Messrs George Philip and Son, Limited, of London) ft set of atlases intended, for use in Australasian schools. The series consists ot three One of them is a specimen copy .01 the model duplex maps. As the name indicates, the maps are in pairs, one of them showing the ordinary territorial Matures usually given in such maps, aud the other showing the physical features. For cxnmnle, in the map set, which is that of Australia, a "lance shows the mountain and «y* r systems, and an idelib'.o impression is made. Another is a sixpenny Australian atlas designed lor the use of Antipodean scholars. The lifaps are wealthy in detail and quite up to date. The third is a more ambitious vo'-ume, containing 37 maps of a lugnlyfiuished and informative character, these ma.ps aro specially prepared for Australasian scholars, and ore lull of details, many of which are not usually' found without reference to other books. To take a locaJ example —there is a sot of maps showing details oj the four principal pork of 'New Zealand, Local knowledge at once testifies to' the fullness and accuracy of the maps. This atlas is further enriched with an iudcx of 12.M0 names of places.
