THE UPSEŢING OF THE BLACK STONE HILL SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

Sir,—Will you kindly give roe permission to reply to Mr Roy Johnstone re the upsetting of the Elackstone Hill School Committee? Now, Sir, T think Mr Johnstone might have stated the plain facts of the ease, which he was perfectly well aware of. lie goes on to sav the petition sent into the Education Board asking to have the election declared informal was only presented to a select few—in fact, it was kept almost secret. There are 21 children attending the school, and there were only four families, with seven children, attending t.hc school, that, the petition was not presented to, thus leaving six families, representing 14 children, in favour of the petition, besides several of the older residents whose children have finished schooling. Now, Sir, I, with others, fail to see where the secrecy 'comes in, ami where Mr Johnstone gets his indignant majority from, unless it is made up with miners' rights, As to the upsetting of the election, the grounds for objection were that one member was elected who had no qualification, an<l another voted at the meeting who had no a.ualification, neither being the holder of a miner's right, nor a householder, parent, or guardian. However, they were both in possession of miners' rights for the second election, having taken them out after the election was upset. Mr Johnstone says it was an insult to the householders, and would take a lot of explaining by the board in not giving both sides a hearing.—l am, etc., Householder. [Correspondence closed.—Ed. 0. D.
