Troh Oob Own Correspondent,) CLYDE, May 12. It is rumoured here, that Mr Horn has been chosen as tho Government candidate at the bye-election, but nothing definite is known. Mr Horn left here this morning tor the southern end of tho electorate. It is stated' that Mr Bennetts declines to «n> test the seat at the byo-eloction, preferring to await a more favourable opportunity at the next general election. Mr R. Scott, of Kyeburn, who is a candidate for tho Tuapeka seat, returned to JJunedm last night from the north. Mr Scott leaves for Lawrence to-morrow morning to make arrangements for meetings in different portions of tho electorate.
