Tho Secretary of the Dunedin Diocesan trust Board wrote stating that the complaint of a nuisance arising from the See House drainage being discharged into the old mill channel would receive further attention.—Received. Tho Secretary of tho Treasury telegraphed that tho £150 loan was available tor expenditure, and asking if the money was immediately required.—Received': replied to. The Secretary of the Treasury wrote forwarding a statement showing "the amount received by the council under "The Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1901," together with interest at 4 per cent, on such advances up to January 31, 1908. The debt being inscribed in the Treasury, it would- lie necessary for the council to issue debentures for £511 18s 3d.-Keceived, The Mayor hoped other loans might bo as successfully inscribed.

The Minister of Publio Health telegraphed inviting two representatives of the council to a conference of local bodies interested in the drainage of the Kaikorai Valley, to bb held at his rooms at tho Grand Hotel on Friday—The Mayor and Or Duncan appointed. Tho Secretary of the Dunedin Drainage and Scwerago Board wroto enelosin<r ' a ropy of a special resolution, to act as a special order, passed by the board. If the resolution was confirmed at a, meeting on April 17 a copy of the special order directing the rate to be made, levied, and collected would be forwarded.

Cr Duncan moved that a reply he sent to the ohairman of a meeting called on March 31, when a resolution was passed: "That this meeting requests the Mayor and councillors to take a poll of tho ratepayers as to the advisability of reverting to the previous 6 yetem of rating." The Wortfl Committee recommended that Messrs Harbour Bros, bo informed that tho council is prepared to sell that, part of the street proposed to I>e closed in front of their property, containing 17J poles (more or leas), at a prioo to be fixed by a competent valuer, to be mutually agreed upon. The committee reported having instructed the inspector to havo two of the corners of tho AVoodhaugh bridge asphalted.-Adoptcd. The Finance Committee reported that the bank book showed an overdraft of £323 12s 9d, and recommended that accounts amounting to £23 3s lid bo passed for payment—Adopted.
