A good many years ago the structure was enolosed with glass, with the object, of preserving the marblo from the action of tho weather; but an eminent sculptor has advised the committee of tilio Burns Olub, who are custodians of the mausoleum, that the exclusion of air is likely to have been the occasion of the mosoluef, and also to have given rise to damp, which has been a eause of trouble. Steps will therefore be taken to secure a free current by the removal of at least a portion of the glass screen, and the statuary will, on tho advioo of the gentleman referred to, be treated with a oleansing and preservative solution.
