FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.

The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Dunedini Lodge was held at the Lodge Hall, Stuart street, on Thursday evening. rI.G. Jiro. Bichnrdson presided,. ( and there was a large attendance of - brothers. The election of for the a'auual 'nKieting at Cromwell . took place, and the following brothers wore elected to represent' the lodge:—P.G.. Bio. M'Doiigal!, P.G. Brp.'-'Bnmdell, N.G. Bro. Kichardson, P.G.- Brb? Crosbie, and l'ermanent Secretary Bro. Naiimann. Baring the evening a musical programmo was provided by P.G. Bro. Cooper J-; a; recitation being given by P.G. Bro. Black; song by P.G. Bro. Sandys; song by P.G, Bro. Sligo. The second toast was responded to by N.G. Bro, Little (Hand- 'and i Heart Lodge). Two candidates were initiated and four nominated lor admission to the-.lodge.

The Pioneer liodge/I:O'.Gf.T. held its usual meeting on l)hursday' ; evening in the club house, Moray | place. Sis'. Cameron, P.C.I, presided in 'the absence of the C.T. and there was o. very good attendance of members and visitors. A letter was received from the Council of Churches, asking that delegates should be appointed to the Nolicense Convention to be held next week, and it was decided that Bros. Da-Ron, Gain, Orr, a.ud Scott should represent the lodge. Bro. Scott presented a-.full report of the anual meeting of District Lodge; the report bring adopted with thanks. Harmony was contributed by Sisters Barton and A. Scott, .Bros. Barrie and .-Scott, , Sis. ,'N. ' Scott acted as'■ accompanist., .Votes of..thanks to the performers and viators' wore acknowledged, by Bros. ■Barrie' - and■>' representatives of Alliance, Hope of Diwedip, arid Lily oi the' Valley, Lodges. Sis!. Barton:.and Bros. 8.. Cameron'. and Dale • were appointed' to represent Pioneer in .the.debate with.St*r of Freedom on the 26th inst.
