CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
The monthly meeting of iho Committee of tho Dunedin Chamber of Commerco; .held in tho Chamber Hail yesterday afternoon, was attended by Messrs W. Gow (president), D. M'Pherson, A. 8. Patorsorij J. W. Honton, G. R. Ritchie, L. Harris, and J.'M. Gallaway. . ■ '
A letter wa3 received from tho Invercargill Chamber with referonce to cargo steamers calling at the Bluff previous to coming on to Port Chalmers,' and a subcommittee, consisting of the chairman, Messrs Henton and Ritchie, was appointed to consider tho matter and report. ' ''.■_.
Tho Oamavu Chamber wrote intimating that it was proposed to hold a conference of chambers to discuss tho size of cornsacks, which, under the new regulations, aro to bo limited by tho Railway Department to, 2001b. It was resolved to reply that in the event of a conference being' hold the Dunedin Chamber would endeavour to. bo represented.
The London Chamber of Commerce wrote notifying that two representatives of ■ the Proprietary Articles Section of that body would shortly visit tho colonies* to watou
the progress of suggested legislation to amend the "Commerce Trade Descriptions Act, 1905."—Received.
Mr H. 8. Penwick, chairman of the Dun ; '"/. edin Stook Exchange, was elected a member of the ohamber, and leave of absence ■was granted to Messrs A. S, Paterson and L. W. Harris, who are about to visit Europe.
