LONDON, December 14. (Received Dec. 15, at 4 p.m.) The New South Witlra Government agent lias completed an organisation in Scotland for a careful selection of domestic girls. He states that tho Government's special ayentß in England and Scotland have beeu inundated with applications from desirable young women wishing assisted passages early in 1908.

Mr H. 0. L. Anderson, director of tho Intelligence Department., states that tho passage fare for domestic servants from Ureal Britain was recently reduced lo £3 each, and the Agent-general lias been authorised to send 1000 suitable young women. Mr Coghlan lias been urged to be very careful in the selection, and to obtain giris from the provinces, who have, as far as possible, obtained a certain amount of training as domestic servants. Ho has boon assured that woll-traincd girls can on arrival readily obtain situations at from 10s to 12s a week, and that tho demand is so groat that if the. 1000 wove lauded in ono week they could be easily placed. While the passage money is cheap, the director feels sure that the arrangement is a good one for the State, as each girl influences others to come out later. An immigrant wlio went t/i Newcastle lately nominated no less than 12 persons, and one servant girl has brought, out eipht of her relatives and friends in this way. These nominated immigrants are generally of tlifl most suitable class, and tlwir friends in New South Wales look after them on arrival.
