The Shaw-Savill iincr Waiwera arrived at Port Chalmers on Saturday morning from Napier to load lloim>\vnr<l cargo, and will probably sail again lliis evening [or northern ports. The barque Irene was towed down to Carey's- Bay on Saturday morning, and will remain at anchor there for a day or two until sho gets a full crow. The lUkiura soiled on Saturday for Inve.rcargill and Rivcrtou, and will return via Wftiluwa with limber. The Cornwall proceeded to Port Chalmers on Saturday to load hemp and general produce, and after completion will proceed to nortliern ports to continue her Homeward loading. Tlio Kamona is iltie to-morrow or next 'day from northern porta'with balance, of her Taamanian timber cargo for this port. Cable advice rocoived on Saturday states that the Waihora arrived at Singapore ou Friday evening from Calcutta, en route to New Zealand. Tho Thrift-era was floated out of dock 011 Saturday morning and berthed at George street wharf, wliere she will oontimio her overhaul. The barquo Formosa, now at Rattray street wharf, is under orders to proceed to a South Australian port to load, and will probably leave hero on Wednesday or Thuredav.

An uneventful voyage of 52 days from Loudon to Melbourne was experienced bv tile Tyser steamer Indradevi. which arrived at Melbourne on November 29. Captain A. E. Hollmgsworth (late of the Indraghiri) is in command, and Mr Thirkell (!ulo Indraghiri) has also transferred In the Imlradevi. The vessol is duo at Wellington about tho 19th inst. Tho New Zealand Times says:—The cargo steamer Tndramayo. 5200 tone. Captain Williams, has been chartered bv the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company to load in New Zealand for London. She is due in the Dominion about the end of this nK>n!:h, and will Bail from Auckland for London ou January 18. The Indramayo is duo at London about March 5. Tho Now Zealand Timw reports that tho Wellington agency for the Vancouver-New Zealand cargo steamer service, run by tho Alley Line, has been transferred to Johnston a.nd Co. (Ltd.). The next vessel to load in New Zealand will Iwj the Den of Rulliven, which is to leave Wvdnev in a few days. 8h« is to sail from Wellington shortly after Christmas. In view of tho arising from fire on shipbouixl, the Shaw, Savill Company has issued the following notice to all cargo workew employed on tliq company's vessels:—"As a preventative measure against, tire, you are cacli and all hereby ordered not to enter or work cargo in any of tho company's steamers' holds without firet banding over to tho hatchinan all matches you may have, on or about your pereons, .on each occasion of going to woifc in any hold." By order of A. M'Dougall, marine superintendent. Noticc boards, similarly worded, are to be hoisted at each gangwar.

Tho Union Company has received cablo advioea stating that tho company's new turret cargo steamer Koromiko left Liverpool on Friday for Fremantle, where she will load a cargo of hardwood for New Zealand ports. The new vessel, which is under the command of Captain Clift,' gave very satisfactory results during har trial trips, averaging 11J knots on a deep-load draught.. This is regarded us a very good turn of speed for a cargo steamer, and as tills typo of vofsel represents the latest achievement in economical cargo carriers, her advent in New Zealand waters will be awaited with interest.
