EXHIBITION OF TURKISH GOODS.

There is at present on exhibition in (lie racial lmll of the Art Gallery an especially fine accortmenl of goods of Armenian. Turkish, and Fersian manufacture. These have been sjjccialty imported for tliie market by Mr ft. G. Balakia.ii, of Armenia, and are well worthy of inspection, All the poods are hand-made, and give nndeniable proof of' the extraordinary ingenuity, patience, and skill of the makers. A number of very handsome Turkish carpets, vegetable dyed, of various sizes. qualities.'desixns. and colours, are to be seen in the collection. Of rugs there is considerable variety, one. a silk Persian rug, being strikingly handsome. Displayed close to I he rugs ai'e zouave jacket-, capes, skirts, belts, d'oyleys. and scarves richly embroidered in "old ami silver, of these article* are rather dazzling to look upon, on account of their extreme richness and elaborate design. There are .=ome exceedingly handsome bedspreads among the goods, one magnificent piece of work being; particularly noticeable. This is of silk, with most extensive and artittic design* in L'olcl .iikl silver worked upon it. Some idea of the extent of the work may be gained from the fact that it kept two voung ladies busy with their needle.s for nine months More the bedspread was completed. Table cent res of line linen with workings in gold and silver thread, and others of satin, are shown in variety, as are al*o table coveis, mantel drapes, cushion covers in silk, satin, and- velvet, and bath towels of different nizes and qualities.
