EXPEDITION 1 TO THE SOUTH SEA ISLANDS. ■ (Per United Pnr.ss Association.) AUCKLAND, December 10. Tim expedition which loaves on Thursday by the Taviuni [or Tahiti and Flint Island to observe the eclipse of the sun on January 3 next consists of Mr F. K. M'ljean, F.R.A.S., of Tunbridgc Wells (England), Mr Joseph Brooks, F.R.A.S., F.R.0.5.. Mr W. E. Raymond, F.R.A.S., and Mr i. W. Short (all from Sydnev), Mr IT. Wickelmon and the Rev. F. W. AY-ilkor (of Auckland). Mr (V 11. Merfield (of S.vdnev) accompanies the expedition to Flint Island,' where he will join Iho oxpedition sent out by the Tiii'k Oliscmlory under Frofesfor Campbell. The party will proMily return to Auckland about January 17,
