Tho Kaiser delivered a warm speech in welcoming King Edward at a banquet at Wilhelmshohe. King lid ward, in responding, said: "Your Majesty knows that it is my greatest wish Hiat only the best and plcaaantesti relations should exist- between our two nations. lam delighted that your Majesties will soon visit me in England, and I am firmly convinced that, besides my family, the entire people will receive your Majesties with the greatest joy." The Gorman newspapers of all shades are gratified at (.ho cordiality of the Kaiser's and King' Edward's toasts at the banquet, and at the lact that King Edward' spoke in German. THE CAUSE OF PEACE. BERLIN,; August 16. (Received August 16, at. 10.6 p.m.) The newspaper Kolnisehe Zeitung interprets a long conversation between Prince von Bulow and Sir C. Hardinge as a fresh step in the common work of the two great nations in tlie cause of peace. KING EDWARD IN AUSTRIA. REFORMS IN MACEDONIA. VIENNA, August 16, (Received August. 16, at 10.6 p.m.) The Emperor Francis Joseph of Austria and several members ot the Imperial family welcomed King Edward at Isclil. The Emporor gave a luncheon at tho Imperial villa, An official communique regarding a conversation whioh lasted for upwards of an hour between Baron Aerentlial (Austrian Minister of Foreign Affaire) and Sir Of Hardinge declares that all questions regarding current politics were touched upon. Both recognised the reforms introduced in Macedonia by the entente Powers with the other Powers' support, and they are in full agreement with Britain's latest declarations. A similar 'dentity of views was apparent regarding the impending proposals to the Porte and the method of dealing with the Macedonian bands. As tlie attitude of the others Powers is in full accord with Britain's and Austria's views, the horoscope is favourable to tho success of disinterested endeavours to- introduce a serious and lasting improvement into the Vilayets.
